Frequently Asked Questions

What are the prices of the enclosures?

The prices vary depending on size and start from as low as $1649. Please click here for models and prices

How long does it take for delivery?

Our boxes are 100% Australian made and standard sizes are always in stock.  Delivery lead times will depend on destination. Please see our T&C (in Products menu) for lead times

How are the enclosures delivered?

Sydney deliveries are hand-unloaded by our driver at your desired location in your property. Interstate & regional deliveries are flat packed in large cardboard boxes and (the boxes) are hand unloaded by our driver at drop ship destination.

How are regional & interstate deliveries packed?

The enclosures come flat packed in large cardboard boxes. Between each steel panel is a layer of 10-20mm thick packing foam, with a maximum of 4 panels per box (max weight 40 Kg). The edges and faces of the box are surrounded in 5mm thick polystyrene foam.

Galvanization – what does it mean?

The process of galvanising steel is the placement of a thin coat of zinc over steel to protect it from rust. The Acoustic Box uses 0.9mm thick steel hot-dipped in zinc creating a coated commercial forming steel with a spangled surface, which is then skinpassed to improve surface quality.

The Acoustic Box uses only galvanised steel with a minimum 0.3mm zinc coating, meeting and exceeding Australian and International standards for galvanised steel:

  • AS/NZS 1365:1996 (R2016) AS 1397-2011 ISO 9001:2015 Quality System certified

How easy is the assembly?

The unique design of our Pool Filter / Pump enclosures means that there are absolutely NO NUTS & BOLTS and NO need for any TOOLS to assemble the box. On average, models that are < 1> 1.7m (double) take 2 persons 45 – 60 minutes to assemble.

The panels of the enclosure are joined together at the bottom by 4 corner brackets and locked at the top by 4 corner caps (additional 4 corner caps and 2 straight brackets for enclosures > 1.7m)

The box comes flat packed in large cardboard boxes and is hand unloaded by our driver at drop ship destination

What makes the enclosures “soundproof”?

The panels (of the enclosures) are lined with 20mm Australian made Acoustic Foam – industrially affixed to the interior of the panels. The Dark Grey foam is typically a grade of 29/400 which equates to the following:

  • Density of 28 to 31 kg/m3
  • Tear resistance of 400N/m (minimum)

These properties, combined with the design of the enclosure, facilitate an 80-81% reduction in noise when applied to the enclosure – see independent Acoustic Report here.

The Foam is treated with Ultra Fresh protection to guard against dust mites, bacteria and fungi.

Freight and Shipping– what does it mean?

All our products are delivered / shipped from our warehouse in Sydney, made of 100% Australian products, including BlueScope© Galvabond steel and Australian made Acoustic Foam. A network of couriers are used for interstate & regional deliveries - with the bulk being freighted using TNT & Barnetts couriers.

What configurations are available? (E.g.: Backless / side less / side-access)

All enclosures are available in backless, side-less and side access variations.

A ‘backless’ enclosure is more appropriate when there is less than 2 inches from the wall and the equipment (e.g.: a pipe, a filter, pump etc.). The design of the backless enclosure will allow you to lift the lid without hitting the wall / fence. They have additional ‘brackets’ at the back which get affixed (screwed / bolted) to the wall / fence.

Please note, backless enclosures therefore add 50mm to the depth – Please click here for pictures of backless enclosures

A side-less enclosure is useful/required when you do not have 25mm of space down one side of the enclosure to fit the side panel. An example of that is when there are pipes or other equipment too close to a side wall which prevents you from sliding the side panel (of the enclosure).  The design uses the same ‘wall brackets ‘which are used for ‘backless’ enclosures. A side-less enclosure adds 50mm to the width and comes with a door stay in lieu of a gas strut

Side access is an enclosure that also has a removable door on one of the sides (in lieu of the normal side panel). This is particularly useful when there is confined access to the enclosure (e.g.: it is located at the side of the house on a narrow thoroughfare). Having a side access panel allows you access the enclosure from the side (rather than the front). Please click here for pictures.

Please also note, gas struts are not available on the side where side-access or sideless is requested.

What are Feet & footings?

Feet are available to level the enclosure in the case of uneven ground, to a maximum of 30mm. These are optional and when purchased, there will be 2 feet provided for every corner

Footings are chemically treated timber pine sleepers – cut to the size if the enclosure and come pre-drilled with all the relevant screws to assemble. They are used / needed when there is no even or level ground (the enclosure needs to sit on an even or level surface such as a concrete slab or pavers)

Please note the footings will increase the height of the enclosure by 90mm.

Can I drill through the panels?

Yes. The Galvabond steel panels may be ‘core drilled’ to accommodate pipework, electrical cabling etc. Please note, The Acoustic Box suggests that a (silicone) sealant is used to cover the core drill cut to reduce the likelihood of rust impacting the panel.

How can wires run inside / outside the enclosure?

All enclosures have a 25mm gap along the full width at the back and front (between the bottom of the lid and the top of the rear / front panel). The gaps allow for adequate ventilation as well as for running power cords in / out of the enclosure (power points can. remain hanging on an external wall /fence)

Where can I hang the chlorinator, Electrical equipment & other boxes?

The Acoustic Box provides a dressed pine backing board on each standard enclosure to mount such devices as the controller, GPOs, light switches and other electricals. This board is 184mm high and 20mm deep and runs along the full width of the enclosure.

The dressed pine board can be fitted to a side panel as an optional extra.

I cannot find my size. Can I get a custom size?

Yes. We can also custom fabricate any size. Prices will vary depending on how many panels needed to be custom fabricated. So, for example; if you can utilise a standard height and width, then we would only need to customise the depth, fabricating only the side and lid panels; thus reducing the additional cost of customization.

What about ventilation?

All our enclosures have ventilation gaps that are 25mm – all along the back and front of the enclosure. The gaps have been tested by an Industrial Engineer to ensure adequate protection of pool pumps & other equipment. The gaps are also designed in a way to allow for wirings and conduits to pass in and out of the enclosure.  Please click here for pictures.
